Join the Personal Finance Society Board as a Member Director!

The Personal Finance Society (PFS) is looking for a Member Director to join its Board, offering an excellent opportunity to shape the Society’s strategy and make a visible impact on the future of the profession.

The Nominations Committee is now accepting applications from members who can bring valuable insights and perspectives to support the Society’s goals and deliver our mission: “To guide the personal finance profession towards higher levels of professionalism through advocacy, networking, good practice guides, publications, and a comprehensive program of professional development and events.”

The PFS values inclusivity and aims for a Board that reflects diverse backgrounds and perspectives, helping us understand the members’ needs and make well-rounded decisions. We encourage candidates from all sections of the profession to apply for this role and contribute to a more inclusive and forward-thinking Board.

The Role

Your duties as a director would be:

  1. To contribute to the strategic direction of the Society.
  2. To monitor the progress of the Society against plan and in so doing hold the management to account.
  3. To attend approximately four to six Board meetings per year.
  4. To attend at least a full day’s strategic planning session each year.

There are also member facing duties which include:

  1. Attendance at the Annual Officers’ Conference, the AGM and the Annual Personal Finance Awards
  2. Support of the President by representing him/her at regional meetings and other events.

In total, you should be dedicated to attending a minimum of four to six Board meetings a year, a strategy day, the Annual Officers’ Conference, Personal Finance Awards, AGM and one regional meeting each year.

As a requirement of the Articles of Association (3.5) this is an unpaid role. The PFS will however reimburse any reasonable expenses you incur in fulfilling your role, such as travel costs and sustenance where necessary.

The person who is appointed to the role will be expected to take up post as soon as their appointment is ratified by the PFS Board of Directors. The appointment will be for a term office up to the conclusion of the PFS AGM 2025 and then subject to annual appointment rotation (with a maximum term of office of six years).
